Privacy Policy

How Syndicate handles account, group, pick, comment, notification, analytics, monitoring, and operational data.

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Syndicate is an independent app. These pages explain how the app works, how user data is handled, and the basic rules for using the service. They are not legal advice.

Who we are

Syndicate is an independent app for private groups, social picks, friendly competition, stats, comments, reactions, and game-day coordination.

For general support, contact support@syndi.dev. For privacy or account deletion requests, contact privacy@syndi.dev.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to run the app and keep groups working.

  • Account details, such as email sign-in information, display name, profile ID, policy-acceptance version and timestamp, and confirmation that the user is at least 21.
  • Group details, such as group names, invite links, memberships, roles, settings, and archived status.
  • App activity, such as picks, comments, reactions, notifications, stats, badges, recaps, and activity feed items.
  • AI feature inputs and outputs, such as prop-search phrases and the pick results, display names, generated recaps, roasts, and accolades used for Syndicate Wrap.
  • Technical information, such as analytics, server logs, browser/session storage, error reports, and optional push notification records.
  • Support-link activity, such as whether a support call to action was viewed or opened and the surface where it appeared. Syndicate does not attach private pick details to these events.

What we do not do

  • We do not operate a sportsbook or place bets for users.
  • We do not accept wagers, collect stakes, pool funds, or process payouts.
  • We do not sell private group data or user picks.
  • We do not store full payment card details.
  • We do not provide gambling, financial, legal, tax, or investment advice.

How we use information

  • To sign users in and keep accounts secure.
  • To create and manage groups, picks, comments, reactions, stats, badges, and notifications.
  • To show sports schedules, scores, and odds-style information in the app.
  • To interpret prop searches and generate optional matchday recap copy, friendly outcome-based roasts, and accolades. AI does not grade picks, calculate standings, create odds, or change group data.
  • To understand basic usage, fix bugs, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.
  • To send owner-facing operational alerts, such as new-user, new-group, join, cron failure, and digest alerts.

AI features

Syndicate sends limited search and matchday recap information to the OpenAI API to interpret natural-language prop searches and generate optional recap copy. This may include a search phrase, display names, submitted pick labels, odds, results, and standings movement.

Generated text is probabilistic and may be inaccurate or awkward. Syndicate validates it against application data and keeps deterministic results as the source of truth.

OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the account explicitly opts in. OpenAI may retain API data for abuse monitoring under its applicable data controls.

AI prompts and responses may also be sent to Sentry for error monitoring and AI trace debugging. Successful Wrap output is cached by matchday and source-data version so it does not need to be generated for every member.

Service providers

Syndicate uses trusted third-party services for hosting, authentication, database storage, analytics, error monitoring, AI processing, operational alerts, and sports data. These services process information only as needed to run, secure, debug, and improve the app.

When voluntary support is enabled, the support link opens a third-party hosted payment page. That provider receives the payment, contact, device, and transaction information submitted to it under its own privacy policy. Syndicate does not receive or store full payment-card details.

If Syndicate later adds ads, paid features, subscriptions, or new tracking tools, this policy should be updated before those features go live.

Cookies and storage

Syndicate uses browser and session storage for things like sign-in, PWA behavior, caching, analytics, and optional push notifications.

Syndicate does not currently use ad retargeting or behavior-based advertising. If that changes, the privacy copy and any needed consent flow should be updated first.

Retention and deletion

Syndicate keeps information for as long as needed to operate accounts, groups, matchday history, stats, safety features, and debugging.

Account deletion is currently manual. A user should request deletion from the email address used to sign in, or complete another reasonable verification step.

After a verified deletion request, Syndicate should remove or disconnect the user's account, profile, memberships, and push subscriptions where feasible. Shared group records, such as picks, comments, results, and stats, may be removed, anonymized, or kept in limited form if needed to preserve group history or safety records.

Children

Syndicate is intended only for adults who are at least 21 years old. People under 21 may not create an account or use the service.

Security

Syndicate uses standard security practices such as HTTPS, server-only secrets, access controls, and database permissions. No online service is perfectly secure, so users should keep access to their email account protected.

Your choices

Depending on where a user lives, they may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information.

Syndicate does not currently sell personal information. Privacy and deletion requests should be sent to privacy@syndi.dev.

Changes

This Privacy Policy may be updated as Syndicate changes. Material updates should be posted with a new last-updated date.
